The Programme ensures that all new graduate businesses

• Understand how to make money - the business model
  
• Have a ready-made national and regional network
  
• Have a dedicated mentor and business support
  
• Understand the know-how's and know-who's of practical business
  

Programmes are all about gaining the business skills you need to start or run a business

You will learn about networks; practice extensively networking skills; develop your own national and regional network

A personal mentor will work with you during the 3 day residential. Ongoing expertise and support from FlyingStart will get you trading within 12 months or growing quickly.

Key elements are:

• Networking
  
• Knowledge workshops - finance, marketing, funding, protecting your intellectual property, planning, strategy to acquiry and develop networking skills
  
• Personal skills workshops - managing customers, networking, presenting, influencing, time management, working with a mentor.
  
• Working with a mentor - experienced entrepreneurs provide expert advice and support

Women in Science - for any physical science related business

• Creative industries - for businesses in design, ceramics, jewellery, fashion, crafts industries
  
• Arts - for businesses in performing arts, film, media, theatre, drama
  
• Women - for any businesses which are majority women-owned
  
• Engineers - for any business with an engineering-related focus
  

To be eligible to attend a FlyingStart Programme you need to meet the following criteria:

• Either be a UK University final year student or graduate of up to 5 years
• You must be considering starting a business in the next 12 months or have
• Started a business which has been trading for less than 12 months
• Although you can trade Internationally you must be planning to base the business in the UK.
