Configure Clerk & Developer API Keys

Don’t stress! I’m going to walk you through it.

Simply open MemberMouse, and click “Menu” -> “Payment Settings” -> “Payment Methods.”

Scroll down and select “ClickBank”. Now click “Create New API Key.”

Now we’re going to retrieve the necessary credentials from ClickBank. Open up a new browser window and log into your ClickBank account.

Select the “Settings” tab in the main menu followed by “My Account” in the secondary menu.

Scroll down to the “Clerk API Keys” section and click “Edit” in the upper right corner.

On the following page, select “Create New Clerk User API Key.” Now give your API key a short description and check the boxes next to Orders/Tickets Write and Products API

Click “Save.

Now head on over to Clickbank and login if you’re not already. Go back to the “My Account” page and locate the “Developer API Keys” section -> click “Edit” in the upper right corner.

Copy each key individually.

Return to the ClickBank configuration form in MemberMouse and paste each key into its corresponding field.

Now click the drop down underneath “Site Name” to retrieve the list of sites from ClickBank.

Select the site you want to connect.

Done.

Submit All Products For Clickbank Approval

ClickBank Product Approval Page Example

By now you should have your products created.

ClickBank must approve everything your users are able to purchase.

But you’ll need to ensure some things prior to submitting your products.

I’m going to summarize the primary information found on ClickBank’s product listing page.

Step 1. Create a Pitch Page

The Pitch Page aka Sales Page describes your product to potential customers.

Your VSL accomplishes nearly everything on Clickbank’s to-do list.

When customers are ready to buy, they click on a ClickBank payment link on your Pitch Page, linking them to the ClickBank order form. In addition to the ClickBank payment link, your Pitch Page MUST include the following information:

  • The cost of the product.
  • A detailed description of the product (This is usually included in the VSL).
  • How and when the product will be delivered (e.g., direct download, via email, etc.).
  • For recurring billing products, explain how the product will be delivered, and how often.
  • Add a disclaimer to your Pitch Page(s) and Thank You Page(s). Here is the necessary disclaimer:
ClickBank is the retailer of products on this site. CLICKBANK® is a registered trademark of Click Sales, Inc., a Delaware corporation located at 1444 S. Entertainment Ave., Suite 410 Boise, ID 83709, USA and used by permission. ClickBank’s role as retailer does not constitute an endorsement, approval or review of these products or any claim, statement or opinion used in promotion of these products.

If your Pitch Page contains a video over 15 minutes long, you’ll need to provide a script for your video. This script will help the Business Services team quickly review your submission.

Step 2. Create Thank You Page

The Thank You Page is what customers see after they purchase your product(s).

Aside from a “Thank You” your Thank You Page needs the following:

  • Clear instructions on how to access the product.
  • Email address, a link to your email address, or a contact link.
  • A reminder of credit card or bank statement showing a charge by ClickBank or CLKBANK*COM
  • The following disclaimer needs to be at the bottom of any page with a ClickBank reference:
ClickBank is the retailer of products on this site. CLICKBANK® is a registered trademark of Click Sales, Inc., a Delaware corporation located at 1444 S. Entertainment Ave., Suite 410 Boise, ID 83709, USA and used by permission. ClickBank’s role as retailer does not constitute an endorsement, approval or review of these products or any claim, statement or opinion used in promotion of these products.

Step 3. Apply Clickbank Trust badge

The ClickBank Trust Badge (CBTB) is a header bar or a floating tab required on any page containing a ClickBank paylink.

ClickBank is recognized as an internet retailer by major card brands, because of this, the ClickBank Trust Badge (CBTB) must be implemented.

Step 4. Create Your Payment Link

When customers visit your Sales Page and attempt to purchase your product, they’ll use a payment link sending them to your ClickBank order form.

After payment approval, ClickBank confirms orders by providing customers with unique receipt numbers.

Customers are then prompted to click a final link taking them from this confirmation page to your Thank You Page, where you provide them with the aforementioned information.

You’ll need to manually create the payment link to send customers to the order form.

See Creating a Payment Link for more information.

Step 5. Test Your Payment Link

Before submitting your product for approval, you must first place a test order as if you were a customer. That way, you can make sure all links are working before potential customers try to buy.

Testing your payment link helps ensure ClickBank’s Business Services approve your product on the first attempt.

To make a test purchase, you’ll use test credit card details provided by ClickBank.

Configure the Instant Notification URL

Finally.

In order to properly synchronize your MemberMouse site with ClickBank and to ensure member access upon purchase, you’ll need to configure the Instant Payment Notification (IPN) URL in ClickBank.

Open MemberMouse from your WordPress dashboard and perform the following:

  • Click on the “My Site” tab in the secondary menu.
  • Scroll to “Advanced Tools” and click “Edit” in the upper right corner
  • On the following page in the “Advanced Tools Editor”, enter a secret key for instant notification URL. The secret key can be up to 16 letters or digits and must be in ALL CAPS.
  • Copy your secret key. Return to ClickBank configuration form in MemberMouse and paste it into the Secret Key field.
  • From the ClickBank configuration form in MemberMouse, copy the URL in the field labeled “Notification URL”
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the form and click the “Save Payment Method.”
  • Return to ClickBank. Click “Advanced Tools Editor,” paste the notification URL from MemberMouse into the field labeled “Instant Notification URL”.
  • Click “Save Changes”

That’s it!

Virtually every successful online marketer utilizes a membership site.

A membership site is one of the best ways to distribute your premium content, create continuity, and share your premium tools.

That’s it for day 13 – Well done!
